This workshop presents a method for material research as basis for surprise and innovation. We have been looking at the principles of Biocomposites - a new generation of composite materials made from plant fibers and plant-based resin. Research in ‘green’ composites is making interesting findings in natural fiber webs and resins that are competitive with the most commonly used petroleum-based materials. Biocomposites often mimic the structures of the living materials, giving us an opportunity to work with biological analogies. By using this material-group and its manufacturing technology as our research topic, we will use serious of its restrictions regarding size, shape, mold etc. to question, intervene and innovate.
